The Brennberg Valley is one of the most beautiful regions of the Sopron Mountains. This area is of alpine characteristics in geographical terms and with respect to its flora as well. The place where the coal was burned was called "Brennender-Berg" which meant "Búrning Mountain" in Hungarian: this was how the valley got the "Brennbergbánya" ("Burning Mountain Mine") name. After 200 years of coal mining, the coal mine stopped in 1952 and afterwards the settlement was forgottan.
